Looking at the rise of Fascism, ECHO80 also has full dataset on the wave of Ehrenbürgerverleihungen in the 1930s. It represented a way for local municipalities to demonstrate fealty to the Nazis and to force out political opponents. We are providing a snippet of data to show the timeline that appears through our data collection methods.
Mit Blick auf den Aufstieg des Faschismus in Deutschland verfügt ECHO80 auch über einen vollständigen Datensatz über die Welle der Ehrenbürgerverleihungen in den 1930er Jahren. Sie stellten für die Kommunen eine Möglichkeit dar, den Nazis ihre Treue zu beweisen und politische Gegner zu verdrängen. Wir stellen einen Ausschnitt aus den Daten zur Verfügung, um die Zeitachse zu zeigen, die sich durch unsere Datenerhebungsmethoden ergibt.
Our method in this project was to scan thousands of pages of texts from archival documents to recognize patters in order to extract dates, locations, and actions. In this case, there are literally mountains of additional data that can be mined for knowledge/information about the process. At ECHO80, we specialize in data extraction and management and find solutions to complex problems using new methods. A sample of text data we uncovered is below on this matter of conferral of the Ehrenbürgerschaften.
